BACKPACKS
                                     IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT BACKPACKS
 
  1.      Backpacks should only weigh between 5-10lbs.  
  2.      Most children’s school backpacks weigh with their books between 25-30lbs.
  3.      The backpack should be over both shoulders as the picture above shows the child is leaning.
  4.      Backpacks should not be picked up with one hand, as the picture shows she is hurting her back.
  5.      Carry morning period books first and then go to your locker after lunch and switch to pm books.
  6.      Keep your backpacks as light as you can.
  7.      Chiropractors are seeing an increase in neck, shoulder, and back problems in children.
  8.      Chiropractors are seeing an increase in scoliosis (side curve) in the spine from backpacks.
  9.      Use rolling backpacks if your child can not lighten their backpack.
  10.      Can’t lighten the backpack?  See Dr. Zieve for a medical note to have 2 sets of books.
  11.      Remember your child only get one spine!  Don’t ruin the future of their spine due to backpacks.
